Powers: "Meh... freeze, unfreeze, freeze, unfreeze"
As Mer's elaborate words put it, she can freeze liquid or gas to a solid form by causing the loose molecules to come together, forming a hard material. The hardness of the materials depends heavily on the concentration level of Merida and so far, she can make the liquid or gas as soft as jelly and as hard as diamond. From what she has experimented until now, she can even freeze blood via touching. Of course, it means her power are very useful in a fight and if she uses it right, she can easily become a secondary student or even make her way to the Elites. However, there're reasons why she never makes it there... except for not wanting to, of course. Her power, in order to harness it to full power, needs a lot of concentration. Concentration that Merida doesn't possess. Her power is easily out of control. Her power will only work when she has a calm mind.
Weakness:
First of all, her power can't affect things that she can't touch. It won't work if freezing a pool of water 2000 meters away from her. Therefore, because of this disadvantage, Mer always carries a bottle of water with her everywhere she goes. If the need arises and she has to protect herself, she can always freeze the water to make it hard as diamond. A very effective power indeed. Secondly, Merida can't shape the liquid or gas that she freezes. It's one of the reasons why she's so reluctant to use her power. If she freezes the air around a person for a long time, they will die for sure. Also, because she can only freeze things that she can touch, Merida can't freeze too hot or too cold substances like lava for example. Solidification is also a very hard-to-control power. If she makes the substances too hard (diamond hard), it will be too draining but if she makes it too soft (jelly soft), it will be extremely easy to lose control.

Strengths:
✎ Drawing: Unlike her twin brother Jason, Merida is a very artistic person. She draws very well though her drawing style is mostly Japanese manga style. It comes from reading too many mangas over the year. In fact, she's so good at it, Mer's big dream is to become an author and draw her own manga to publish it all over the world.
✎ Badminton: The only sport Merida is good at is Badminton. She's not perfect in this of course but she has passion about it and sometimes, all you need is passion. She sometimes asks her friends to play this sport with her.
✎ Making calming tea: Being a rather hot-headed person, Mer needs a calming method for herself. That is how she learns making calming tea. Her tea is really good, it has a calming effect and because of that, when losing control of her temper, Merida often makes a pot of tea for herself. She often makes Chinese tea, thinking its flavor and scent are good.
✎ Being friends with animals: Merida is also an animal person. Animals like her a lot as oppose to her brother. Merida supposes it's because of her opened personality. She doesn't try to hide anything and therefore, the animals find her safe. She has a pet goldfish, a dog and a cat at home. Merida also ignores Jason's obvious dislikes for her pets.
Flaws:
☠ Academic subjects: Merida's determined to do against everything her brother is and therefore, she pretty much ignores the academic subjects, only does enough to pass and nothing else. It isn't as if she's stupid, Merida just doesn't try. The only subject she's good at school is art and that's it.
☠ Concentration: Merida's biggest flaw is perhaps her concentration. She can't focus on anything for long and even things she likes. She's easily distracted and bonderline on ADD. She has never taken medicines though because it isn't too serious. However, it is one of the reasons why she isn't a good student. She can't just sit still and learn things.
☠ Patience: Merida has the patience the size of a dry tree branch. You push too much pressure on it and it snaps... dramatically. Merida isn't someone who gives up easily. She just gets frustrated when her effort doesn't pay off fast enough for her to see it. Her frustration often manifests itself in exploding rage where she might (and already has) destroyed everything she has done in her rage. It's a bad problem for her and Merida's learning how to be patient but the lessons aren't as effective as she hoped.
☠ Observing: Mer isn't the world's best observer. In fact, she barely observes anything. She looks at things the way it is. She can't grasp the concept of 'looking underneath the underneath' as well as her brother has. Mer often ignores the small details of things and it often causes her problems sometimes...well, most of the time....

Personality:
Merida is without a doubt a very hotheaded, bad-tempered, impulsive, reckless and self-centered girl. She does what she wants and never fails to piss people off, especially her brother. She often fights with people and while she doesn't like popularity, she basks herself in the spotlight. She is extremely proud of her bad reputation as opposed to her brother whose only wish is to be in everyone's good book. Merida is the kind of girl that is kind but never knows how to choose her words correctly. As a result, she has a very blunt mouth and speaks before she thinks. Or 'put her foot in her mouth' as her friends kindly put it. At first glance, the bad outweighs the good in her her. She's too reckless and risks her neck needlessly. She's too self-centered to even listen to anyone criticizing her flaws. She's too hot-headed not to get into a fight and too impulsive to be considered healthy. Oh, not to mention blunt... Mer is incredibly blunt. Sometime, people wonder why no one has hit her for her bluntness yet. Probably it has something to do with being a girl. She never sugar-coats her words and when she gives people advices, it sounds like she's scolding than talking.

So... with a personality like that, what is Mer good at, exactly? Well, first of all, while she is very blunt, very bad-tempered, very self-centered, she's very caring. While it is true that her care can be a bit much to some people, the fact that she cares matter. Her words, no matter how blunt they are, only there to help people. When people take the time to listen, truly listen instead of taking it at face value, they will see that Mer only wants to do the best for them. She's just too strong to be all mushy mushy. In addition to being caring, Mer is a righteous soul. Despite having a very bad reputation and even a 'bad girl' look to boost, Merida will never let evil go unpunished, even if she will most likely get into troubled for it later. Merida is also very loyal to her friends and will never betray them. A characteristic which she shares with her twin brother. Mer is also the most generous person you'll ever meet. She's willing to share anything as long as you're her friends and stays in her good side.

Merida's relationship with her twin brother is beyond strained at best and they are downright enemies at worst. All the arguments are usually started by Mer nine out of ten times. She hates her brother for meddling with things that are none of his own business, hate him for ruining her life even now, hate him for speaking ill of Mer's friends and most of all, she hates him because once again, just when Merida thinks she can be someone special, she only becomes the second best in her parents' eyes. Well, she's tired of being the second best and now she will become someone on her own, someone that is not constantly under her brother's big shadow. She'll become the bad girl if needed be and she will prove her worth her own way, her brother be damned. Let's see if she can make him have a heart-attack at the end of this year.

History: "Tsk...whatever"
Born on August 18th just five minutes later than her twin brother, Merida began her journey through life as 'the second best'. In the early period of Mer's childhood, things weren't too bad. Her parents were quite rich and were more than enough to raise two children under their care perfectly. They showered the twins with love and Merida, in turn, turned those love her parents gave her into the love for her brother. She was too young at that time, too early to understand why some adults liked her brother more than her. However, Mer ignored those facts, her brother loved her best and that was enough for the young miss Glenn. Like her twin brother, Mer's happy bubbles and beautiful view of the world vanished quickly when she turned five.

While Jason was dealing with a lovesicked best friend, Merida was completely ignored by both her parents and her brother. No one could blame them, really. Mer had always been a rather quiet and easy to deal with child, she was self-entertained and she didn't cry or make a fuss much. She seemed perfectly content to be alone while her brother had to deal with a traumatizing event of his life. Of course it was logical for Mer's parents to focus on the elder one of the two. However, what they didn't know was that when those things were happening around Jason, Merida felt left out. She was smart for her age and she had always questioned her parents 'why'. "Why do you talk to Jason more than me, Mama?", "Why do you always play with Jason, Papa?" Merida would ask. Her parents, unfortunately, didn't have any justified answers to give her. It was always "Your brother needs us more, honey", "Don't worry, princess... I will play with you when I finish playing with Jason".

Because of those answers, Merida's parents had, unknowingly, created a rift between Merida and Jason. They had crippled Merida's confidence in herself, making her think that she could never be as good as her brother, would never deserve their parents' attention like her twin did. Slowly, Merida's thoughts turned bitter. She began to fight for her parents' attention. "Bad attention is better than no attention at all", she reasoned. Mer would break things, cause troubles, fight the neighborhood children so that her parents would scold her, so that she would have her parents' attention. Luckily for Mer, her childhood wasn't completely friendless. She made friends with a few children when she fought against the bullies. They were best buddies for a while... until her parents decided to move away.

Of course, it had to be because of dear Jason that they moved. Poor, poor traumatized Jason couldn't stay in a place filled with bad memories anymore and so, it was for the best if they move to a better place to start anew. No one bothered to ask the opinion of little Merida. No one asked if she had any friends here, no one was bothered enough to prepare for little Mer. Things got out of control... badly. When she knew the news, Merida threw a fit. She had just made a few friends and now they had to move? All because Jason couldn't even play with his friends correctly? Why? Why didn't they stop for a moment and think of her for once? But at last, the decision had already been made and Mer didn't have any say in it.

At the new place, Merida quickly learnt that everyone had a social status and her brother was in the higher place while she, with her inability to concentrate on anything for long period of time and her impatience, sat on the bottom of the ladder with the 'freaks'. When her twin had forgotten his own troubles, suddenly, she was the center of his attention. Unfortunately for Jason, Mer no longer wanted her twin brother's attention. She was the bad girl, she even had a period of self-harming. No teacher liked her and they always compared her to her twin brother. "That's the other twin. Wow, she isn't as good as her brother, is she?", "Yeah, she doesn't have her brother's intelligence, that's for sure", "What a pity, huh?".

Mer ignored all that and tried to avoid Jason like plague. However, things didn't turn from bad to worse until she turned 13. Merida got her first boyfriend. He was alright and he understood her. He was an emo kid. That was alright as far as Merida concerned. For once, her life wasn't centered around precious Jason. Unfortunately, it just had to be Jason that ruined everything again. Her brother's overprotectiveness showed it ugly head and he suddenly had to convince Merida to stop loving her boyfriend. Of course Merida disagreed. They argued and fought, sometimes for days on end. Then, Jason went behind Merida's back and confronted her boyfriend. The emo boy turned out to be a gay in disguise. He fell in love with Jason at first sight. Merida lost her love and Jason gained a troublesome fanboy.

Merida's patience for her brother snapped completely. She determined to become what her brother hated. She didn't even try at school anymore, she befriended 'the wrong sort' and she argued all the time with Jason. On one of the fight, where Merida's rage blinded her, she had snapped and thrown a bottle of water at her brother only to have it frozen in mid air. That was how Mer discovered her cursed power. At least it wasn't 'love manipulation'. Now, at her high school, she decided to stay at the bottom of the ladder, her friends were more real down there and they didn't judge her. Despite her brother's every attempt, Mer's stubborn. She would win this fight in the end.

Other:
✡ Merida is a bit of a geek. She enjoys Japanese culture and often seen reading mangas or discussing about the latest animes.
✡ Merida isn't very creative at naming things. She calls her goldfish 'goldie', her dog 'puppie' and her cat 'Lazie'

So begins...

Benjamin
Mid-afternoon, Friday 16th of August

Image

A light breeze rolls off the lake beside the town of Benjamin, offering a small break from the hot sun above. For those students stuck inside, the have only a few more minutes until the bell rings marking the end of the school day and the start of the weekend.
Students also find themselves looking forward to the weekly meeting. The After School Club is due for a gathering. A few hours after school most students will make some excuse to their parents and make their way to the abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of town. There challanges will be made, some will wake away as winners and others might find themselves further down the social ladder than when they entered the warehouse.

Abigail Porter

Abigail Porter sat in class, her attention on the small, balding man that was trying to lecture the room full of students on the properties of the fundamental forces. He had already given the class a stirring introduction to electromagnetism and no doubt next week would be filled with strong and weak nuclear forces. Today, however, was dedicated completely to gravitation, a force that Abby knew intimately well. Physics had always been an interesting class, or at least Abby thought so. Many of Benjamin's inhabitants had powers that let them defy the very rules that Physics was trying to teach. Abigail always enjoyed seeing the teacher try to explain around the peculiar abilities, making exemptions for the talents. Nevertheless Abby always made a point of learning the lessons, failure was hardly something she wanted.

Even so, as the teacher droned on Abby found her mind wondering to tonight's gathering. She was quite content with her current position, number two, so she doubted that she would challenge Ozzy tonight, but it was always interesting watching other fights. Whenever anyone from the Elite's was challenged it was always useful to pay attention, watching how her fellow Elite's fought was very informative and would help Abby form a partial plan on how to deal with them if they ever chose to fight.

The loud buzzing of the school bell brought Abby's attention back to the present. The teacher began to shout the weekend's assignments over the loud sound of scrapping chairs, but gave it up as hopeless as conversations cropped up and his voice was muffled out. Abby picked up her books, arranging them carefully in her arms. She left the classroom with the crowd and began to make her way towards her locker.

Being an Elite had its perks. Many of the lower students moved out of her way, leaving Abby with a clear path through the crowded school corridors. Of course there were always those who either chose to ignore the hierarchy or simply didn't seem smart enough to get out of her way. Abby was climbing down a set of stairs when a younger students pushed past her, his elbow catching her painfully on the upper arm and sending her books flying. Pursing her lips to stop herself from shouting at the younger student Abby held up a hand, palm facing vertically outwards. Her falling books stopped their descent, freezing in midair. The student froze too, caught in a bubble of zero gravity. His excitement for the weekend, and most likely tonight's meeting, was easily visible and quickly turned to a look of shock as he was slowly spun around to face Abigail.
"If you're going to run in the corridors, you had better watch where you're going." Abby told him. She held out her arms and let her books float into them. The student was still floating inches above the floor in Abby's cloud of zero gravity.
"I... I'm s..sorry" He stuttered, glancing nervously from Abby to the ground just out of reach. Not wanting to cause more of a scene than she already had, Abby let the boy go. He landed on his feet and seemed to shrink back against the wall as Abby passed.

She reached her locker a moment later without incident and quickly opened it, placing the books she didn't need inside and taking out those she would need over the weekend. Around her everyone seemed to be buzzing about the weekend. Abby smiled, she too was looking forward to a few days to relax in the sun, but first came tonight.

Zack Hooke

"Keep your knees up Hooke! Stay awake!" The harsh voice of Benjamin's gym teacher was having little effect on the teenage boy. Zack liked most sports, however gym class was not something he generally enjoyed. Or at least not when he was being forced to run around the track under the heat of Benjamin's summer sun. He could also feel the increasing anger radiating from the large gym teacher as Zack slowly jogged the last leg of the track. He didn't understand why he was the one being targeted, after all there were others who were still behind him.
"Come on Hooke! Don't fall behind!" She shouted again. Zack felt himself slowing down, if only to spite the teacher. He could feel her anger increase exponentially as his pace slowed.
"Come on miss, it's almost the weekend." Zack told her, "And it's too hot to run any faster." He had to admit that the teacher was exceptionally good at controlling her anger. He could feel it spike as he spoke and yet there was no visible sign present.
"Hooke..." Her warning was enough though to let Zack know that it was probably time to lay off. He flashed her a cheeky smile before picking up the pace. Apparently satisfied she went to go harass some other poor student, leaving Zack alone to finish his run and then head for the showers.

Zack quickly entered the male locker room and Zack grabbed a towel before headed into the showers. Ten minutes later he reappeared, smelling faintly of peaches and looking as fresh as if he hadn't just been running. The bell rang just as he was stuffing his damp towel away. Zack picked up his sports bag and made his way out of the showers. He considered stopping by his locker to pick up some books but decided against it. Instead he headed out to the school front where he took a seat on the rails and waited for his friends to come out.

He would see them tonight at the Club, but Zack was a social person. He wouldn't want to waste the few hours between now and the start of the club alone. Sure, he could do some homework, but he'd rather hang out with his friends. Besides, there weren't many days left in summer and he didn't plan on wasting the fine weather.

'Hmm... tell the definition of telophase, huh?... telophase, telophase, telophase...' Jason thought, tapping the pencil on his answer sheet patiently. He only needed to finish this question and he was done. He glanced at the clock quickly. 'Still fifteen minutes to go... plenty of time...' He bit the pencil, still deep in thought. "Hmm... telophase... I remember reading this yesterday night..." He mumbled to himself before his eyes widened. Oh, yes, he did know the answer. Like a light bulb had been lit up, Jason smiled and wrote down the answer on the sheet neatly.

The final phase of cell division, in which membranes form around the two groups of chromosomes, each at opposite ends of the cell, to produce the two nuclei of the daughter cells. The spindle disappears, and the cytoplasm usually divides (in the process called cytokinesis). In mitosis, telophase is preceded by anaphase. In meiosis, telophase occurs twice, once as part of the first meiotic division (when it is usually called telophase I) and once during the second meiotic division (when it is usually called telophase II). During telophase I, the members of pairs of homologous chromosomes which have separated during anaphase I (anaphase of the first meiotic division) regroup at the two ends of the cell. During telophase II, the individual chromatids that separated during anaphase II (anaphase of the second meiotic division) regroup at the ends of the cell.

Jay smiled triumphantly. His lips curled up into a pleased smile and a happy glint was present in his eyes. He would at least get an A for this. Well, maybe he could get out early. Today was a rather nice day and he liked to indulge himself a nice, slow walk from school to the place. A soft chuckle passed Jason's lips. He wondered how his parents would react when they found out their perfect son fought with people on weekly basis...Probably not very well but still, it wasn't as if they would discover his secrets anytime soon. Well, he wasn't in the mood to fight today... Maybe next week... Hmm... he wondered if Mer would try to improve her social status today. It was still a... possibility.

Jason found his eyes drifted to Merida's form at the back of the classroom unwillingly. She was writing frantically and crossing whatever she wrote just as quickly, muttering curses after curses as she worked her way to the test. 'Well, I did tell her yesterday already. It's her fault for not listening to me...' Jason let his thoughts wandered for several minutes more until the bell rang, signalling the end of the class and its horrible pop quiz. Silently, Jason handed the teacher his answer sheet and flashed the man a smile, earning a knowing look for himself. He knew he was being a bit of a teacher pet but he couldn't help it. It was just too tempting having someone recognizing his talents.

He gathered his things and stacked them neatly in his bag before walking out of the classroom. He stood there, waiting for his sister to come out. No doubt she was in a very bad mood. That was alright, though. He was her twin. He could take it and besides, maybe this time she would actually listen to him when he gave her his advices. Smiling at the giggling group of girls, Jason waited for his sister.

"Damn! What the hell is a 'telophase'? I read it somewhere, dang it!" Merida cursed softly under her breath, looking frantically as she tried her best to do the test. She hoped she would at least get a C... but even then she was realistic about her chance. Finally decided that she couldn't remember for her life what a 'telephase' was, Merida closed her eyes and decided to test her luck.

It's a name of a fish or something like that.

Slamming her pencil down, Mer was fully aware that she had made a very terrible mistake... but really, that was her best chance. She felt someone's eyes on her and she looked up in time to see Jason - her twin brother glanced away. Bastard... He was probably laughing at her misfortune. And if she was even more unlucky than this, the first thing he would tell her was 'I told you so' that cheerful, annoying voice of his. How she despised that voice! 'But it's your damned fault for not reviewing the lessons... Jason did tell us yesterday to review in case of a pop quiz. Knowing how much of a teacher pet he is, we should have listened to him' A voice in Mer's head said and she kicked it away. She didn't need to hear that voice right now.

The teacher came to her desk to collect her test. She handed him the test with a frown but it deepened when the man shook his head. Again with the comparison between her and Jason... Why did everything have to go around him? He wasn't the center of the universe! She harshly threw the rest of her books into the school bag and walked out. Maybe today she would fight to get rid of some frustration.

"Mer... You didn't do the test well, did you?" A voice said the moment she walked out of the classroom and Mer groaned. Why didn't Jason just leave her be? "I told you, Mer... You should have listened to me... Anyway, have you realized the truth behind my words?" Jason continued, oblivious to Merida's growing anger. "...You should have stayed away from those undesired students. They are making you look bad... Come with me, Mer... I can show you-"

Finally, at the end of her patience, Merida turned back to glare at her brother. "Why don't you show me how to mind your own business? Leave me alone!" She half-said, half-yelled at her brother, her face began to change into an ugly red. "Mer, surely you understand that I only have your best interest in mind. If you don't do what I said, I fear I would have to use more... drastic solutions..." Jason replied calmly though his voice had become strangely still. Merida ignored the threat. "And if you don't leave me alone, your reputation will be the last thing you have to worry about, Jason! Go back to your jolly group of friends! I'm pretty sure that guy, Molly, Maillo...something like that... will be happy to do your bidding."

"Stop that right there, Merida. You can insult me all you want but you will pull the line when it comes to my friends." The first hint of anger appeared in Jason's eyes. Merida was unfazed. "Oh, really? So, it's okay for you to insult my friends but it's not when it comes to your friends, Jason? Where's the hell is the fairness in all of that?" Jason actually growled and Merida spent a second to congratulate herself for being able to break through that annoying perfect mask of her twin.

"You know what you are, Jason? You are the antagonist in a book, the villain in a movie and the bastard in a roleplay!" She yelled the last part to his face and walked away, leaving a confused Jason behind. "What do you mean by 'a bastard in a roleplay', Mer? Come back and talk to me, sis! I order you to cease this disobedience now! Merida!" Jason yelled but Merida had already walked passed him and didn't even spare a glance his way.

Merida arrived before Jason did, which was a given, seeing that she practically ran from her twin. He was so annoying she wondered why no one had even bothered to punch a hole in his face yet. Probably it had something to do with that stupid mask he always wore. Why couldn't he just be like her? Showing her true face was a lot happier. She had friends, true friends to share her problems with. Oh, speaking of friends...

Merida's eyes lit up when she saw Josh sitting alone, drawing... as always of course. She called out happily, completely unaware of the attention she was drawing to herself "Josh! Josh!" She knelt down next to him and watched curiously as he drew. "Oh, are you trying a new technique? The picture looks smooth..." Sitting down, Mer asked absently. "...Are you going to fight today, Josh?"

Josh would be be finishing his drawing with a fine liner, careful strokes of the pen on the black hair and would smile when Merida came to him after shouting after him, he wouldn't look at her, just how he was, reserved and when Merida asked him about if he were going to fight he spoke, in a studious fashion...

''Some legends say the Yuki-onna, being associated with winter and snowstorms, is the spirit of someone who perished in the snow. She is at the same time beautiful and serene, yet ruthless in killing unsuspecting mortals. Until the 18th century, she was almost uniformly portrayed as evil. Today, however, stories often color her as more human, emphasizing her ghost-like nature and ephemeral beauty. She was known in Japan as the snow lady.'' He'd then lift the finished drawing up and looked at it, nodding in approval, his fingers stained with black.

He would then close his art book and slide it into his satchel and popped his art utensils into a smaller pouch in it too then he'd look at Merida with his tired icy blue hues. ''Okay, what is the matter? Don't tell me it nothing Mer, I know how you are feeling and I also know that only one person can make you so...angry...your brother.'' He would then cross his arms and look at Merida with a look on his face of 'spit it out.'

He would relax resting his head against the tree and closed his eyes. ''We have time to kill and if I can make you feel better, it is good time spent. So?''

Milo Pomales isn't really a huge History person- that's probably why he has never even considered taking the advanced track in the subject. Not to say that he ever really has considered any of the advanced tracks, to be honest. History class, though, is at the bottom of the list as far as any sort of favorites may go, no questions ask. Really, it's a wonder that the young man hasn't fallen asleep in class most days. The only thing keeping him up his his determination to keep up decent grades- he has to set a good example for his sisters, as his mother has lectured him about several times before. Thus, he does his best to get Bs, even in the classes that he doesn't give a flying flapjack about. Luckily, half of the grade in this particular class is participation- that much, the extroverted young man can do, at least. Jumping into discussions is easy for him- he kind of feels bad for the shyer kids in the back of the class, the ones who ace the tests but are too anxious to join debates, and therefore are at risk at losing marks or something. Well, the teacher probably favors them enough not to do anything about it.

Anyway, the young man is certainly unapologetic about the glee brought about by the ringing of the door, jumping up and gathering his things quickly. Today's a Club meeting, after all, and he has always loved both competing, and watching others compete. Milo doesn't do it in order to advance in ranking- he'd participate even if it meant him always staying at the very bottom rung. He just likes the thrill of competition, of pushing one's self to improve and working to face a worthy opponent. It's not a matter of showing up or ranking for him- he likes to test his own skill. He's challenging himself more than anyone else when going up against someone during the matches. Milo throws his backpack over his shoulder, twisting his back a bit to crack it, and ease the aching brought about by the too-small plastic chairs provided by the school.

"Have a nice weekend, Mrs. M," Milo bids his History teacher, who he likes despite his disinterest in the subject, goodbye with a friendly smile before leaving. She lives in his neighborhood, actually, and he's helped her fix her car before- saving her the trouble of going to a professional and being overcharged or something like that. The middle-aged woman raises a hand in farewell and smiles, but her eyes remain glued to the stack of assignments that she is currently grading.

As Milo walks down the hall, he spots the Glenn siblings having a bit of a spat, coming up to them just as Merida, who holds some sort of disdain for Milo, to the confusion of the young man, storms off. This is a routine encounter for the two, as far as Milo can tell. Seeing it makes him grateful that he has a good relationship with his little sisters- he'd hate to argue with them all the time, and doing so would only stress out their mother, something he avoids as much as possible. She already has enough stress at work, working as a nurse at the local hospital, without adding sibling arguments on top of it.

"Another argument? Maybe you should give her a bit of space, man," Milo says, bypassing a greeting as he stops beside Jason. The two are a mildly unlikely friendship, but a strong one all the same. Maybe they balance each other out a bit, making it work. Either way, the friendship has given no signs of withering away just yet. "Come on- wanna grab a bite before the club meeting?" Milo suggests with a grin, craving a burger and milkshake from the diner down the road.

Magnolia is already a rather good student, having a gift for studying, even if she doesn't rival people blessed with the supernaturally advanced intellects, but it is only natural for her to whiz through an exam in her best class- AP Environmental Science. Last year, she had opted to double up on sciences with AP Biology, but for her Junior year, the girl wanted to take it a bit easier with something that she already knows about- Environmental Science fit the bill perfectly. Despite finishing her test before the other students, she remains sitting with it in front of her, not really wanting to be the first to go up. It's less an insecurity thing, and more of a 'don't attract attention' sort of thing. Besides, she's found herself locked in conversation with the willow tree that provides shade just outside of the first story class she is currently in. It probably isn't the smartest of ideas for Magnolia to sit near a window, but she continues to do so anyway, because it gives her something to do when otherwise idle.

"And they just kept going on and on about how much they adored him," the tree complained, this one being a shameless gossip who can't help but listen to every conversation held beneath her branches. Most humans can't listen to the words of the trees, but the smarter plants are typically able to understand whatever language is spoken in their residence. Willows are among these smarter trees, though the way this one babbles one wouldn't guess it. Palm trees, on the other hand, have no idea what anyone is saying, and are incredibly vapid. It can be very trying, having one prattle in your ear whenever going to the beach. Luckily, Magnolia isn't much of a beach person.

Magnolia is so busy listening to the willow tree that she, at first, doesn't notice the ringing of the bell, signaling that everyone is free to leave. Only once she notices other people standing up and filing out does Maggie stand, "Well, I have to go now. See you Monday," Magnolia promises, as though she has a choice in the matter. Still, for her gossiping ways, the willow is sweet enough, and Magnolia likes her decently.

After dropping her test on the desk, the teacher, a birdlike man with a curved nose and beady eyes, looks up and smiles at Magnolia. "Will you be joining the River Cleanup on Sunday?" he asks, likely already knowing the answer- Magnolia always makes it her business to be part of such ventures, something which has racked up quite a bit of community service hours over the years. Magnolia is quiet for a few moments before speaking, despite the answer being a certainty.

"Wouldn't miss it," she says in a soft voice, smiling a little bit before leaving, clutching her book against her chest while the rest of her books hit against her hips in the messenger bag strapped across her chest. The girl knows where she is heading- the groundskeepers have been doing an abysmal job of caring for the reading garden, planted by long-since graduated classes, that is at the front of the school. She wastes no time getting there in order to right this wrong.

The flower bushes sing their gratitude, except for the ever-snooty tulips, as she quenches their thirst with a hose that she located, in it's familiar location, at the side of the school. "I'll speak to the groundskeeper about keeping you guys hydrated," she promises, smiling as violets chatter away, and the Roses, not quite snobby by still with an air of superiority, begin dictating the proper amount of water, and frequency of watering, they are to receive. People walk past the girl, most accustomed to seeing her seeming to talk to herself. There are enough communication abilities for people to understand who don't know her.

Seeing three familiar people, Zack, Sebastian, and Millie, walk past, Magnolia raises her hand hesitantly and smiles a bit, before immediately dropping it, thinking that they likely hadn't noticed it anyway.

Jason watched with a frown as Merida stormed off. She would most likely find her 'friends' and talk with them again. Why didn't she ever listen to watch he had to say? Jason honestly only wanted the best for her. 'You will regret this, Mer... You will see the light... I will make sure of that'. Jason thought, his eyes hardened. He clenched his fists tightly, bitter resentment swelled in his chest made it hard to breath. "Another argument? Maybe you should give her a bit of space, man," Jason jumped and looked at the direction he just heard the voice, hastily masked his face into a pleasant smile. "Oh, hello-" His smile dropped when he saw who had just talked to him.

Jason let the invisible mask on his face shatter the moment he realized no one was around to overhear him. "Milo..." He greeted tiredly and ran a hand through his hair in distress. He walked to his best friend and gave him a tiny smile. Many people had always wondered why Milo and Jason could be best friends. They were different in many aspects. One was honest and an open book, the other was a lying and manipulative bastard (Not that people could see that side of him...yet). One was easy-going, the other revengeful. It was a miracle they could get along at all let alone becoming best friends. However, Jason supposed it was the differences that drew them together, like the two poles of a magnet. Milo's honesty evened out Jason's lies and Jason's forceful personality made up for Milo's laid back nature.

And besides, Jason could never befriend a person like himself. He wouldn't be able to trust them and there would be no friendship beside mutual partnership, taking advantages of each other. Jason wouldn't be happy. "...Sometimes, I'm really jealous of you and your sis, Mil'..." Jay said, shooting another glance toward the direction where Merida had gone. "You have any tips to help me with...our relationship?" Jason asked easily, only half-joking. His shoulders slumped and he let out another hug sigh. "...Because I really need it right now..." he muttered quietly.

"Come on- wanna grab a bite before the club meeting?" Milo suggested and Jason immediately agreed, wanting to take his mind off the argument. He needed a clear head if he wanted to keep up with his mask. "Sure thing, bro... The usual place then?", Jason asked, the schoolbag was already in his hand. Well, he could use a good distraction, Jason absently thought.

'Some legends say the Yuki-onna, being associated with winter and snowstorms, is the spirit of someone who perished in the snow. She is at the same time beautiful and serene, yet ruthless in killing unsuspecting mortals. Until the 18th century, she was almost uniformly portrayed as evil. Today, however, stories often color her as more human, emphasizing her ghost-like nature and ephemeral beauty. She was known in Japan as the snow lady.''

Merida listened with poorly disguise interest. When Josh finished his explanation, Mer whistled and clapped her hands "Dang, how the heck can you remember all that stuff?...I mean, I can barely remember half of the things I read an hour ago..." She squirmed uncomfortably under Josh's stare and after a minute or so, he spoke . ''Okay, what is the matter? Don't tell me it nothing Mer, I know how you are feeling and I also know that only one person can make you so...angry...your brother.'' At the mention of Jason, Merida scolded. She didn't even want to talk about him.

"...It's nothing... He's being an asshole... as usual, you know...And 'sides, I don't want to talk about it." Merida pouted and hugged her legs closed to her chest. "I just want a normal relationship with him and not him poking his mutated nose into my business... Is that too much to ask?" Mer mumbled angrily, thinking of the threat Jason had made. She couldn't possibly tell her friends that, they would leave her. They all had seen the real face of Jason and they all knew that he could be a threat if he wanted to. What a bastard!

''We have time to kill and if I can make you feel better, it is good time spent. So?'' Josh pressed but Merida remained stubbornly silent. She didn't want to talk about it and there was nothing Josh could do to force the words out of her. After awhile, Josh started to doze off and Merida let him be. He seemed tired and she wasn't in the mood to talk anyway. Unfortunately for the duo, Mer's ADD chose that exact moment to show up and she couldn't just stay still anymore. "Go get a coke, will come back ASAP, Josh..." She muttered lowly so as not to wake Josh. She stood up, dusted herself and left.

When Merida arrived to the spot she had left Josh, two cokes in her hands, one for herself and the other for Josh, she saw a scene that nearly made the blonde hair girl dropped her drinks in shock. Standing just a few meters away from them was Charley Labelle - an Elite and he was... bullying her friends - James and Josh. The realization hit Mer in the face like a bucket of ice had been dumped on her. In an instant, Merida felt hot, shearing, burning rage filled her very core. No one hurt her friends without her permission.

"Stop that right there, asshole!" Merida yelled, the anger dyed her words into an angry growl. Suddenly, it didn't matter if she was facing an Elite while she was at the bottom of the ladder. It didn't matter that she would have to hear Jason nag for months about responsibilities and hot-headness. It didn't even matter if half of the town would know she was special the moment she used her power. All it mattered was that there was a threat to her friends' sake. Merida wouldn't stand by and watch.

She ran to James' place and shook him. "Jamie, are you alright? Did that asshole do something to you? Oh my god, you're so cold..." She muttered worriedly, her lips pressed into a thin line. She stood up, determination shone in her eyes as she unscrewed her bottle of water and dump the content into her palm. The moment her fingers touched the water, it turned solid. She could use a solid diamond weapon right now. 'I'll probably be exhausted the moment the club starts' Mer thought before shaking her head. Better be exhausted than letting a pea-sized dick bullied her friends.

"Why don't you take someone your own size, fucker!?" Mer snarled, noticing that Josh was running. That's good, his power couldn't be used to defense himself this instance. Only Merida had the power to do so. And she would be damned before she failed her friends. With that thought in mind, Merida stood a little straighter, positioned herself between Charley and Jamie protectively.

Charley was actually about to give up and leave Josh alone until Merida came in. "Stop that right there, asshole!" She said before going to check on James and then running straight up to him, "Why don't you take someone your own size, fucker!?"

Charley looked behind her to see Josh running away, with a frown he turned towards Merida. "Look. You ruined all my fun." He said, crossing his arms and looking down the girl. She was trying to intimidate him, but it wasn't working. He stepped on her shadow so that he could have an escape route in case she did attack.

He was annoyed. He'd come to play with Josh. Not some pissed off female. People should know by now that he never harmed anyone. Hell. Even Josh knew he's never hurt him. He's just fun to mess with. Now that he was annoyed, he didn't even want that girl in his sight. He used the same trick he used on James, sending her to the same spot as him. Except this time, it didn't fully work. He saw that her foot was still stuck in the ground. She'd have to dig it out if she wanted it out, and he sure as wasn't going to help him.

"I'll fight one of you two later. Just not now." He called to Merida and James, a smirk on his lips.

Josh ran to the exit, a big iron gate with brick walls, casing the gate into place and he rested against the wall, his hair messed up from resting his head on it and he held his back stained left hand to his chest wincing in pain, sliding his right hand into a trouser pocket he took out a bottle of pills out from his pocket, opened the cap with a flick with his thumb and poured two pills into his left hand and threw them into his mouth and swallowed while he was slipping the pill bottle into his pocket again.

This was when he saw Charley pass him with a smirk on his face and he looked at him with a dagger filled glare before slipping pass him back through the gate and ran to James and Merida and started to dig out Merida's foot. ''Are you okay Mer? James what about you?'' He'd ask his voice wheezy from the pain he was currently having but he kept up his appearances as usual.

When he dug into the earth far enough he put his hands on Merida's ankle and pulled her foot from the earth and started wiping the dirt from her foot as well. ''You shouldn't of tried to help me you two...I know you meant well but I can...deal w-....with it okay?''

He would stand holding his chest hiding his pain with a long exhale of air from his lungs then he continued to speak. ''I know my power is a passive one but...it has its uses...''

"Tiresome, yes, but it also means he'll be all the more entertaining to beat. You know, I'm half hoping that he would be stupid enough to challenge either of us. I'd love to put him in his place."

Ozymandias couldn't help but laugh at the thought as he walked beside his friend. Yes, it would be an interesting challenge to face Hal Humble in a fight. Superspeed vs Teleportation. Their powers were similar, but both offered their own unique strengths and weaknesses. Ozzy, of course, was confident that he could beat him. He made it his business to learn of everyone's strengths and weaknesses, both physically and mentally.

"I feel that you would make an excellent opponent for him. How can he run when he cannot even touch the ground. Even lightening or weighing down the around the field should give him trouble," he reasoned.

Ozzy took in the sight before him. It was fascinating how quickly people grouped together for innocent and not-so-innocent reasons.

"What a waste."

"Charley is simply enacting his pathology. I suspect an Inferiority Complex," he told Abbey. He focused his attention on her for a brief moment. The way the sunlight seemed to highlight her hair. The sight was ineffable. Ozzy looked away, forcing an end to one of many moments which were becoming more and more frequent.

"Of course, he refuses to permit me to psychoanalyze him. For some unfathomable reason, he doesn't seem to trust me," he told her, an ironic smile forming on his face.

Really, sometimes he didn't think things through. One moment, he was mocking the prick that was harassing his best friend and the next, he felt like he was pulled into a blizzard at the North Pole: no light and no heat at all. He opened his eyes, finding himself 100 feet away from the scene. He cursed slightly, trying to push himself up. No one had ever used their powers to teleport him before and James decided that he didn't like it.

"Jamie, are you alright? Did that asshole do something to you? Oh my god, you're so cold..."

He looked up, smiling reassuringly at the girl talking to him. Like with Josh and Magnolia, Merida was a close friend and not just because they were in the same clique. She was just as impulsive as he was, if not moreso. Because of this, he felt extremely proud to see that Merida wasn't charging at Charley like he had. Perhaps she, unlike him, had learned to think before she acted.

"Why don't you take someone your own size, fucker!?"

Or, maybe not. James glanced at her hand. It looked like she froze some water to make a knife. Was that her power? Manipulating water? He had never seen her use her power before so he couldn't tell. It looked like she was going to tear into the prick, but Charley simply left. He smiled at Josh when he came running back. He stood up and gripped his friend's shoulder as he dug Merida's ankle out of the shadow it was stuck in.

''You shouldn't of tried to help me you two...I know you meant well but I can...deal w-....with it okay? I know my power is a passive one but...it has its uses...''

"Bullshit. You would have come running if it was me or Merida who was in trouble. That's what being a friend is. Oh, Jesus, I sound like some Disney Channel character," James joked lightly.

Josh would smile lightly for a moment as James talked as he finished digging Merida's foot from the ground then slowly he'd get to his feet holding his chest then put the strap of his leather satchel over his shoulder again and sigh in relief from the pain he kept concealed in him yet his icy blue hues showed it and his sleepless nights so subtlety as he looked at the ground for a moment then he'd look at James, the smile gone.

''Of course, but for me, I won't come running...'' He would smile looking at the ground holding the strap of his satchel tightly that his knuckles were white as he continued. ''I am not worthy of such a act, I am just....'' He would clear his throat and look up. ''So will I see you two at the Club? I will not be fighting but I would like to see, what I can learn....'' He would ask like he never say anything just before, seems like a touchy subject...

Then he'd hear the English teacher and turn to see the man coming to him and he would frown looking at the ground as the teacher paced to him in great speed.

''Mr. Woodward...your chauffeur is waiting to-'' He would look at James and Merida for a moment then back to Josh. ''To take you to your appointment. It is important, you know that.''

Josh would close his eyes. ''I don't want to go Sir.'' The Teacher would raise his brow and look at James and Merida again before talking once more. ''M- Josh...You have too, you know that. It is for your own good.'' The Teacher would sigh taking his work phone out and look at Josh. ''Don't make me call your father Josh.''

Josh would turn his head sharply to the English teacher and grit his teeth. ''Fine!....Fine...I will go...I don't need my dad involved.'' He would then turn away from the teacher who was now standing behind him. ''I will meet you both at the club...I have an appointment..'' He would turn and be followed from behind by the teacher, Josh was now in a bad mood..

As Josh was walked out from the gate of the school other students looked at him some giggled and the teacher opened the door of the black car. ''It is for you Josh..'' Josh would just nod and get sat into the car, putting his seat belt on and the teacher would shut the door of the car and turn to see the same giggling and pointing students back to normal and he would simply shake his head as he walked away....the car soon left with Josh inside...

"Well, it probably helps that they are a good bit younger than me, y'know? But I think that the problem is how overbearing you can be," Jason looked away, refusing to listen to Milo's words. He had always been rather stubborn about his point of views on things. Clenching his hands tightly, Jason waited for Milo to continue. "I mean, with Leia and Alex, I let them do what they want, so long as they aren't going to, y'know, injure themselves or something. They are their own people, not just my sisters," Jason opened his mouth to argue but finally decided against the idea. He didn't like fighting with his best friend. Both of them had a rather different views about things. And really, they could sit all day arguing about their differences. There were things that Jason accepted about Milo and vice versa. To be honest, it was a miracle on its own that the two of them could be best friends.

"Probably doesn't help that you keep trashing her friends, though," Jason laughed out loud at this. Oh, yes, that was probably correct. "Haha, you're probably true about that..." He nodded. Yeah, he knew that already. Trashing one's friends didn't really leave a good impression. However, he couldn't, really couldn't control his annoyance when he looked at Merida's friends. He still didn't understand what Merida saw in the bunch of them... because Jason seriously couldn't. He sent Milo a small smile and shrugged. "Let's drop it, kay? I don't feel like talking about her...I may consider your words later..."

"Best burgers and shakes in town- of course, the usual place," Jason chuckled at Milo's tactic, finding it amusing. He walked faster than Milo and called over his shoulder as he broke into a run "Race you there, Milo~ Winner gets a free meal!" He grinned and ran out of the school, determined not to lose to Milo in this silly race.

''You shouldn't of tried to help me you two...I know you meant well but I can...deal w-....with it okay?'' Josh said and tried to pull Merida's leg out of the soil.

"Oh come on, I can do it myself..." Merida said and shook her leg slightly, sending dirt everywhere. Punching Josh's shoulder lightly, she continued seriously. "Never say that again, okay? We are friends. We look out for each other... Even I don't go around and tell everybody that I can deal with everything myself." She held Jamie to get up and nodded in agreement with what he said.

"Bullshit. You would have come running if it was me or Merida who was in trouble. That's what being a friend is. Oh, Jesus, I sound like some Disney Channel character," Smirking, Merida joked lightly. "Yeah, and the next thing we know, you will start spilling stuffs about world peace and unicorns..." She patted Jamie's shoulder roughly and said. "However, I agree with Jamie. I won't ever abandon my friends. Never ever."

She coughed, looking terribly awkward by the 'cheesy' conversation. "Can we change subject now? Talking about mushy mushy things isn't my strong suit. I prefer my fist to my words..." As a teacher approached the group and took Josh with him, Merida turned to face Jamie. "Let's go to the Club first, shall we? We can find two seats for Maggie and Josh, too..." She picked up her school bag and slung it over her shoulder. She turned to face Jamie with a raised eyebrow as if asking 'Are you coming or what?'

"We may have to fight today, just so you know. I think I may have accidentally pissed off Labelle... He's a fucking sadomasochist if I have ever seen one and believe me... Pretty sure the bastard, Jason I mean, is one, too..." Merida informed at last as she remembered Charley's warning. Oh well, she would deal with it if he really challenged her. She was just worried that Jamie might hurt himself. She could probably take a few hits before she failed or something. However, unlike Jason, she didn't want to be hurt. Merida snorted and muttered under her breaths "Wanting to be hurt to get high... Why the fuck do I have to have such troublesome twin?"

Abby laughed quietly, quite clearly finding the idea of Charley letting Ozzy psychoanalyse particularly amusing. He smiled slightly. He had always liked her laugh. It wasn't often that she did laught, but it wasn't rare either. It fit remarkably well with her personality: neither aloof nor overly sociable.

"Now, why wouldn't he trust you?"

"I really have no idea. I know more about the mind than the so-called psychology teachers at this school. Honestly, it is quite embarassing. The school needs to raise their standards," Ozzy told her with a smirk. Really, he didn't mean that. He understood perfectly well that his abilities already made him smarter than most adults. In fact, had he wanted to, he would have graduated early and gone to college this year. He had, of course, opted to stay in town, mostly to make connections with other people for his plans for the future, but also because there were certain people he didn't want to leave just yet.

Abby shifted her bag on her back and turned to face Ozzy, "So, what are you doing before the Club meeting tonight?" She asked, "It's definitely too hot to stay inside all afternoon."

Ozzy frowned slightly, studying his friend for a moment. Things had become different between them, this much was true. Both of them had modified their interactions with each other, an interaction that had remained unchanged since they were children. She wanted him to hang out with her, but she didn't want to come out and ask and he had conflicted feelings about that. At last, however, he smiled.

"We can warm ourselves up at the tennis court. No powers or over-exertion. We need to be at our best tonight."

James frowned slightly as he saw Josh go with one of the teachers. He caught some things about his father and it being "for his own good". He sighed. He knew that Josh was keeping something from him and the others, but whenever he asked, Josh was able to deflect or move the conversation in the other direction.

"Let's go to the Club first, shall we? We can find two seats for Maggie and Josh, too..."

He paused in his musings to catch Merida's annoyed look and shrugged wordlessly as he followed after his friend. Hopefully, they would be able to get good seats. Some of the kids from the upper cliques had the habit of forcing them out of all the good seats. Truthfully, he was worried about Maggie too. She was much too gentle for these fights. He laughed slightly at Merida's next words.

"We may have to fight today, just so you know. I think I may have accidentally pissed off Labelle... He's a fucking sadomasochist if I have ever seen one and believe me... Pretty sure the bastard, Jason I mean, is one, too... Wanting to be hurt to get high... Why the fuck do I have to have such troublesome twin?"

"No offense, but Jason is a psychopath. Still, he seems to care about you... In a strange, semi-twisted, sort of way," he told her honestly. He didn't bother softening up the truth. He wasn't able to anyway. Still, he steered the conversation away to a topic he knew she and Josh would tease him mercilessly about.

"I think I kind of pissed Lexi off today. Not enough for her to do something drastic. I just can't help but prod her, though. She puts up walls and my instinct is to poke at them until I find a hole through," he told her conversationally.
