Name: Alexis 'Lexi' Tabitha Rose

Nickname: I've been called a few names; bitch, Goth, jerk, Devil-worshipper, etc. I wouldn't try it if I were you. Lexi is the most common. Not many people actually call her Alexis

Age: 17

Sexuality: Bi-sexual

Clique: Rebel

Likes: Coffee ||Fire|| Rain|| Sitting on the roof during a thunderstorm|| Singing|| Listening to music|| Being alone|| Dreams|| Burgers|| Pissing the elite off|| Control|| Ice-skating|| Ice cream|| Cherries|| Decent singers|| Dubstep|| Amusement Parks|| Fun|| Tattoos|| Hot Topic & Forever 21|| Her Dad

Dislikes: Pie|| Peanuts|| Sunsets It symbolizes the end of something. I don't like that.|| Masks They creep me out, okay? You never know whose face they carved that from|| Hockey|| The Hierarchy|| Elites|| Being vulnerable|| Smokers & Cigarettes

Fears: Losing control Losing control means allowing yourself to be vulnerable. Most would say that's why I like being with girls. With guys, I end up showing them a vulnerable side and they always disappoint. At least with a girl, I stay in control and show them what I want to show.|| Sleeping I never know how long I'm going to sleep. One day, I don't think I'm gonna wake up|| Masks You never know who's behind the mask. It's a stupid fear, yes, but I got it. You got a problem with it, who gives a fuck?

Hobbies: Singing|| Ice-Skating|| Sketching|| Drinking coffee

Powers: Dream Manipulation
  • Can enter and manipulate the dreams of others
  • Can create nightmares within dreams and actually make it possible that the person cannot awake until she decides when they awake
  • Can manipulate even day dreams
  • Can control the dreams of up to 20 people in a 50 mile radius of herself

Weakness:
  • Because she can manipulate or enter the dreams of others, she cannot dream herself.
  • The more people she controls, the more energy it takes, which means that she sleeps for longer. At one point, because a few of the elite pissed her off, she sent the all into a nightmare. She ended up sleeping for almost six hours. It's rumored that if she holds on any longer with her manipulations, she can fall into a coma-like state.
  • Depending on her mood, she can affect the dreams of those closest - emotionally - to her. She can give them nightmares without meaning to, which is why Lexi tries not to have too many close friends. She might lock more people in uncontrollable nightmares.

Strengths: Singing|| Ice-skating|| Maintaining good grades|| Being honest|| Dancing

Flaws: Her eyes They appear as though they're shooting you every day|| Sharp tongue|| Nonchalance|| Her anger You cross me, I'm getting vengance|| Her constant need for control over every aspect of her life

Personality: For the record, asking about Lexi is a big no-no in her book. For one, she doesn't want to get to know people and she doesn't them to get to know her. The first reason for that is because of her powers. An emotional connection to someone will affect the way her powers react. If she is overly emotional, she can unknowingly affect your dreams. The stronger your connection, the more damage or good she can do to you. In most cases, she has sent some horrible nightmares into other people's brains and has found herself in them, unable to relinquish her hold over their dreams until she somehow finds the strength to wake up on her own. And that is definitely a lot easier said than done mainly because Lexi does not dream. So, she would not know how to rip herself away from a dream.

The other reason she dislikes the connection is because, in a sense, she likes remaining mysterious. It's a game to her. She can tease you with little glimpses of who she is and leave you wanting more. But, knowing her, she wouldn't give you more. And she will tell you that. She is actually quite honest. Whatever comes to her mind about you, she won't gossip about it or tell others. That starts unnecessary conflict. If you want to know how she feels about you, she won't bullshit you. She'll tell you and if you happen to not like what she says, it's really a personal problem. Obviously, you have some insecurity issues if her opinion - hers out of thousands of other opinions - means so much.

Combined with that nonchalance towards your feelings and her disdain towards a lot of emotional connections, Lexi can come off as intimidating to people. Does she stare at people like she is ready to kill them? Yes, the majority of the time. It is usually because you have invaded her privacy or she just honestly does not like you. And with those kohl-rimmed jade-green eyes, you would seriously know if she disliked you. Also, it would be wise to watch your back with Lexi and try not to cross her, especially if you are close. If you are close, it means that she trusted you and you have done something that showed that you did not deserve her trust. If you aren't close, you are an idiot that must have a strange desire for punishment because that is exactly what Lexi will give you. A punishment. She has a very strong love for vengeance. You would be surprised by the many plans she has for people when she wants revenge and trust and believe that she will have her vengeance. And the worst thing is, you will never see it coming.

If you are close enough and that would seriously mean that you put up the effort and she found you worthy of knowing her, you would understand that Lexi is a perfectionist and controlling. Her desire for perfection has shown several times in her singing. She does covers of songs on YouTube every Friday and Monday night per request of her viewers. She actually boasts over one million viewers. Alexis would never allow you to see or hear an unfinished project. She is quite calculative in that sense. She will work her hardest, plans every thing out, and will not act unless she feels as though it is absolutely perfect. It's a pain in the ass and if you happen to walk in on one of her practices, she will be beyond practice and will start over with something new. She is also quite sarcastic, especially in cases in which she has pissed you off because she honestly does not care about your opinions or feelings as much as you would like her to.

And she has to be in complete control over everything; her performances, group projects, assignments, etc. It is the reason why she comes off as rebellious to teachers and members of the hierarchy. She likes maintaining control over herself and rules are suffocating. Why would she participate in a hierarchy in which she has to remain in the level you placed her in or strive to be better? To her, the hierarchy is just a way to feed to people's egos and while she knows she can probably get a few people when using her powers, she does not feel like all of that is important. And she has also broken a few rules in school just because...she does not like them. Why follow something if you feel that it has no actual relevance or importance to your life?

More importantly, there's a strong desire to be in control in a relationship, which is why she goes for girls a lot of the time. To be completely honest, she is definitely more attracted to guys. However, it's a lot easier - most of the time - dominate a girl. No, she's not into that kinky crap, but there's a level of control she has in a relationship with a girl that she won't be able to have with a guy. With a girl, she can still remain her usual mysterious self and never let them in all the way, but be able to show affection. With a guy, she always feels like she needs them and she needs to open up to them. And that scares the living crap out of her; allowing herself to be vulnerable and showing a more insecure and needy side of herself. The only people who see that are close friends and family. And they are the only ones who will in her eyes.
Calculative || Talented || Honest || Rebellious || Perfectionist || Vindictive || Afraid || Sarcastic || Intimidating || Seductive || Mysterious

History: Who would have thought that the sweet-faced baby girl that loved her Daddy so much would turn out to be the complete opposite of the girl everyone thought she would be? Her Dad.

Alexis Tabitha Rose was born to a telepathic and woman with a tactile manipulation ability. Everyone thought that she would have a culmination of their powers or something along those lines. It almost seemed as though she could do so as a small girl because she was able to get people to do whatever she wanted simply with a smile. She was one of those adorable girls that everyone loved. However, a part of that changed when she turned four and her parents got a divorce. The connection established from the second she was born between Lexi and her father was so strong that she showed disdain towards her mother's desire for custody. So, when they split it, it was then that Alexis began to change.

The emotional connection between her parents, seeing them show each other their vulnerable side and then for them to end with such hatred toward each other made her wish for nothing more than random connections. She didn't want a lot of people too close to her, even at a young age. She grew to be quite calculative, always watching people and keeping her distance. At one point, her mother wanted her to have counseling. Lexi was about ten at the time and cursed the woman out so badly, they didn't talk for a month. Perhaps Lexi took things too seriously, perhaps she overreacted to the failure of her parents' marriage and fails to see the good in strong, meaningful relationships. She doesn't seem to dwell on that, however. She fears that if she does, she might find herself wanting to have what she won't allow herself to have.

By the time she turned thirteen, she was pretty much the every-day rebellious child and her father handled her like any parent would. He was strict and he gave orders. If she didn't follow them, she was grounded. There was no horrible moment in her childhood or beginning of her teen years. She began singing when she was young and still has her vocal trainer. She began her YouTube account and for her, life was fine. But the one thing that was missing was her ability...at least, that was what everyone thought. It just so happened that Lexi would go to sleep and find herself in either of her parents' dreams, watching them and experiencing things. If she didn't like it, she would alter it and make it whatever she wanted. She thought taht this was just her going on for a ride. However, one day, during the next morning, her father told her that he saw her in his dream. It astounded them, so they tried again. This time, Lexi was very much aware of what she was doing and was purposefully changing things within the dream. When they awoke, they were happy. She had the ability of a dream manipulation.

It was a fine ability and Lexi adored it - still does. It's just that when kids started trying to see how powerful each other were and trying to see who were the elite and all that crap, she wasn't interested. She already wasn't interested in the normal need for popularity that most teens go through, but she became even more turned off to the idea of being placed somewhere on the hierarchy based upon your powers. To her, it's not like she can just fight you now. She would have to do it in your sleep and let's be real; Lexi can kill you in your sleep. She can make you have the dream in which you fell off the cliff and she can make you hit the bottom. It's a very unstable power if you ask her and while she does enjoy it, she has actually understood its limitations and what she should not do. So, instead of competing and allowing others to view her based upon her powers, she has joined the ranks of the rebels. While this does seem to irritate her at times because being associated with rebels means she has allowed someone enough control to place her where they want her, Lexi would rather this than strive for some meaningless position with a bunch of people she won't even see after she graduates. Which seriously needs to hurry up.

Other: Anything else you want to add.

So begins...

Benjamin
Mid-afternoon, Friday 16th of August

Image

A light breeze rolls off the lake beside the town of Benjamin, offering a small break from the hot sun above. For those students stuck inside, the have only a few more minutes until the bell rings marking the end of the school day and the start of the weekend.
Students also find themselves looking forward to the weekly meeting. The After School Club is due for a gathering. A few hours after school most students will make some excuse to their parents and make their way to the abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of town. There challanges will be made, some will wake away as winners and others might find themselves further down the social ladder than when they entered the warehouse.

Abigail Porter

Abigail Porter sat in class, her attention on the small, balding man that was trying to lecture the room full of students on the properties of the fundamental forces. He had already given the class a stirring introduction to electromagnetism and no doubt next week would be filled with strong and weak nuclear forces. Today, however, was dedicated completely to gravitation, a force that Abby knew intimately well. Physics had always been an interesting class, or at least Abby thought so. Many of Benjamin's inhabitants had powers that let them defy the very rules that Physics was trying to teach. Abigail always enjoyed seeing the teacher try to explain around the peculiar abilities, making exemptions for the talents. Nevertheless Abby always made a point of learning the lessons, failure was hardly something she wanted.

Even so, as the teacher droned on Abby found her mind wondering to tonight's gathering. She was quite content with her current position, number two, so she doubted that she would challenge Ozzy tonight, but it was always interesting watching other fights. Whenever anyone from the Elite's was challenged it was always useful to pay attention, watching how her fellow Elite's fought was very informative and would help Abby form a partial plan on how to deal with them if they ever chose to fight.

The loud buzzing of the school bell brought Abby's attention back to the present. The teacher began to shout the weekend's assignments over the loud sound of scrapping chairs, but gave it up as hopeless as conversations cropped up and his voice was muffled out. Abby picked up her books, arranging them carefully in her arms. She left the classroom with the crowd and began to make her way towards her locker.

Being an Elite had its perks. Many of the lower students moved out of her way, leaving Abby with a clear path through the crowded school corridors. Of course there were always those who either chose to ignore the hierarchy or simply didn't seem smart enough to get out of her way. Abby was climbing down a set of stairs when a younger students pushed past her, his elbow catching her painfully on the upper arm and sending her books flying. Pursing her lips to stop herself from shouting at the younger student Abby held up a hand, palm facing vertically outwards. Her falling books stopped their descent, freezing in midair. The student froze too, caught in a bubble of zero gravity. His excitement for the weekend, and most likely tonight's meeting, was easily visible and quickly turned to a look of shock as he was slowly spun around to face Abigail.
"If you're going to run in the corridors, you had better watch where you're going." Abby told him. She held out her arms and let her books float into them. The student was still floating inches above the floor in Abby's cloud of zero gravity.
"I... I'm s..sorry" He stuttered, glancing nervously from Abby to the ground just out of reach. Not wanting to cause more of a scene than she already had, Abby let the boy go. He landed on his feet and seemed to shrink back against the wall as Abby passed.

She reached her locker a moment later without incident and quickly opened it, placing the books she didn't need inside and taking out those she would need over the weekend. Around her everyone seemed to be buzzing about the weekend. Abby smiled, she too was looking forward to a few days to relax in the sun, but first came tonight.

Zack Hooke

Image

"Keep your knees up Hooke! Stay awake!" The harsh voice of Benjamin's gym teacher was having little effect on the teenage boy. Zack liked most sports, however gym class was not something he generally enjoyed. Or at least not when he was being forced to run around the track under the heat of Benjamin's summer sun. He could also feel the increasing anger radiating from the large gym teacher as Zack slowly jogged the last leg of the track. He didn't understand why he was the one being targeted, after all there were others who were still behind him.
"Come on Hooke! Don't fall behind!" She shouted again. Zack felt himself slowing down, if only to spite the teacher. He could feel her anger increase exponentially as his pace slowed.
"Come on miss, it's almost the weekend." Zack told her, "And it's too hot to run any faster." He had to admit that the teacher was exceptionally good at controlling her anger. He could feel it spike as he spoke and yet there was no visible sign present.
"Hooke..." Her warning was enough though to let Zack know that it was probably time to lay off. He flashed her a cheeky smile before picking up the pace. Apparently satisfied she went to go harass some other poor student, leaving Zack alone to finish his run and then head for the showers.

Zack quickly entered the male locker room and Zack grabbed a towel before headed into the showers. Ten minutes later he reappeared, smelling faintly of peaches and looking as fresh as if he hadn't just been running. The bell rang just as he was stuffing his damp towel away. Zack picked up his sports bag and made his way out of the showers. He considered stopping by his locker to pick up some books but decided against it. Instead he headed out to the school front where he took a seat on the rails and waited for his friends to come out.

He would see them tonight at the Club, but Zack was a social person. He wouldn't want to waste the few hours between now and the start of the club alone. Sure, he could do some homework, but he'd rather hang out with his friends. Besides, there weren't many days left in summer and he didn't plan on wasting the fine weather.

Lexi Rose's fingernails, which were painted in a new and shiny dark purple coat, drummed upon her desk in boredom as she awaited the ring of the bell. An obnoxious yawn escaped her lips and she folded her arms over her chest, bored out of her mind. The teacher stopped droning on in his lesson to cast a sharp glare in her direction. All Lexi did in response was give him a mock salute that turned into her flipping him the bird the second his head turned. She glanced at the clock and leaned her head back, rolling her eyes to the back of her head.

Do not believe for a second that she honestly cared for what would happen after school. Meeting up with the Club was not in anyway one of the best things on her schedule. If she had a choice - and with trust her, she didn't honestly have one - she would be anywhere else. She would be getting a smoothie somewhere, ice-skating at the arena, or better yet, uploading a new cover on YouTube. For a second, she blinked, considering her options. She had some time before the Club. Perhaps she could go over some song options. She had her vocal training on Monday, perhaps she could try some Christina Aguilera...

Brrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnggggg!!!! The final bell of the day stopped all inner musings and Lexi was out of her seat. She stole through the crowd of bustling students, bumping into a few without a care. Once in the hallway, she fixed the soft black cardigan of her outfit, glanced around in irritation, and made her way through the throng of kids eager to get home. Some were standing still in the hallway, discussing their plans for the weekends. Others were walking with friends, carefree and unaware of the other students. The freaks. Unaware bastards. she thought, flipped some hair over her shoulder and walked to her locker. Not being in the elite may have others feeling insignifcant and overlooked, but it didn't mean anything to Lexi, Why? Because at the end of the day, she made people move.

She didn't need to have her nose up in the air or have everyone know that she was above them. She just knew she was and she didn't need to beat others down to show that. Not like she didn't like beating people down; she just did that mentally. As she approached her locker, she saw the girl whose locker was next to her shoving her tongue into her boyfriend's mouth. They were just a tad bit too close to Lexi's locker for comfort and were all over each other. For a second, Lexi really wanted some hall monitor to appear and put the two in their places, but decided to handle it on her own. Lexi slammed her hand against the cool metal, snatching them away from their lovers' bliss. Wide and alert eyes cut at her and she smiled sweetly.

"I don't know about the two of you, but I'd rather not have STDs plastered over my locker. Scram!" Both were gone in fifteen seconds, the girl pulling her boyfriend away with her. She was scared of Lexi, which only made Lexi smirk slightly. Sighing, she opened her locker and exchanged books. She needed her math, physics, and Spanish textbooks this weekend. Also, she pulled out her phone charger and her notebook, which was filled with songs. A small, hardly noticeable smile tugged at the corners of her mouth. She could still remember when her Dad bought her this. She was eight with nothing but a piano and a dream, so he gave her something to lock all of her dreams in. Shaking away the sentiments, she slammed the locker shut, plugged in her earphones, and walked out.

If there was one downside to being a genius, it was the sheer boredom that came out of attending a class presided over by a teacher who knew far less about the subject than he realized. It was supposed to be a "fun" class where they discussed the Vietnam War, but Ozzy had already taken studied the conflict in detail when he was 12. The United States and her allies confined themselves to fighting the last war through the destruction of the Vietcong with overwhelming force while the North Vietnamese focused on a propaganda victory in order to make the war unpopular at home. It was a fascinating lesson on how morale and will played into people's actions. Without confidence, even the strongest opponent could be defeated by a weaker one.

Soon enough, the bell range, the teacher reminding the class of the essay that was due this Monday, much to the dismay of the majority of the class. Ozymandias, naturally, had already finished his, but he refrained from turning his in at the moment. It wouldn't due to foster resentment among his fellow classmates. Ozzy had a reputation to maintain. He was the smartest student in school, but he wasn't a teacher's pet. In fact, he came off as believing that the teachers got in the way of his learning, which was true enough. Ozzy did his best learning on his own. He packed up his stuff, making polite small talk with those who greeted him even as he took in their interaction. Most were readying themselves for the weekend and, more importantly, the After School Club. There was always a certain eagerness, a juvenile fascination with who could beat up who in a fight. Really, the After School Club was necessary to serve as a release for these impulses.

Ozzy stepped out of the classroom, noting how the other students went out of their way not to run into them or hinder his movement. Really, he had learned to enjoy the perks of being the Elite. He did not need to waste his time maneuvering through crowds and, if he ever wanted something, he was sure to get it. Of course, not all students observed the etiquette, either through ignorance, accident, or deliberate rebellion. He smiled slightly when he saw a student lifted off the ground. He shook his head and approached his locker, which was conveniently placed next to Abby's. He had already packed everything he needed for the weekened in to his backpack when she opened her own locker.

"Really, Abby, I think you terrified the poor kid," he told her with a small smile.

Finally, class was over and James was among the first students to leave. James didn't really dislike school, but it would be a stretch to say that he liked it. He really had no clue what he wanted to do once he graduated other than getting a scholarship though swimming. Whatever career he was going to have in the future, he decided that it wouldn't be math. The problem were tedious, the teacher was unhelpful, and really, it felt like a convoluted game of marco polo.

Still, what the other students were talking about wasn't much better. Everyone was dropping hints about how hey were looking forward to it tonight. James didn't necessarily like participating in the system that kept himself and his friends at the "bottom", but he just had too much pride not to compete. He headed for his locker, only to see the rebel girl, Lexi, scare them away. He smiled slightly. Really, he suspected that most of her threats weren't genunine. Not unless you really pissed her off. Call him crazy, but he found the girl interesting. He couldn't help but wonder what she hiding behind that tough facade of hers. It didn't help that his locker was only a few lockers down from hers. He smiled at her when he passed her.

"I doubt they have STD's yet. Being horny doesn't make someone promiscuous."

Do you know that feeling when you know someone is about to say something to you that you didn't want them to say? You know, like something that would seriously irritate you because they are obviously minding your business when they should be minding their own? That was exactly how Lexi felt.

She had made it halfway down the hall when she heard: "I doubt they have STD's yet. Being horny doesn't make someone promiscuous." Lexi rolled her eyes before glancing at the male as he passed her, a curtain of jet-black silk whipping around her, and she eyed him with contempt. Well, halfhearted contempt. She didn't feel like being rude...well, at least not too rude. She had to deal with half of these people soon. Why not save some of it for later?

"And minding your business won't get you punched either," she snapped crossly. She muttered under her breath about ignorant and nosy people as she made her way outside. The warmth of the setting sun caressed her smooth alabaster skin gently, a light breeze sweeping across the campus. She was getting ready to start walking when another thought struck her. She yanked out her phone and began texting Amelia.

"I didn't hurt him. I just reminded him that it isn't safe to run through the school corridors."

Ozzy smirked slightly. It was like her to present one irritated act as a public service. He couldn't really blame her, though. Abby despised mess and disorganization and making her papers or books fly everywhere was one of the best ways to make her lose her temper. He chuckled at her next question, wordlessly sliding into step with her as they walked through the hall.

"I am quite sure that there are many who intend to challenge me. There are a few in particular that I..." he began, only to lose his train of thought from an unwelcome interruption. Ozymandias disliked Hal Humble. The boy was rude, loud, and had an unwarranted fixation on himself and Abby.

"I'm sure you're ready, right? Must be hard being at the top. You've gotta keep your eyes out for every possible threat. See you two tonight."

He laughed, his expression indulgent, like one he would give to a child that said something particularly clever, "I suppose it would be hard for one such as yourself."

When he and Abby were alone, his expression gave way to one of annoyance, "Misplaced bravado is tiresome."

"And minding your business won't get you punched either."

"Where's the fun in that?"

James simply grinned at Lexi as he replied. He knew that inserting himself into her personal world was just asking for trouble, but there wasn't any other way to get her out of her shell. Besides, he could endure a few verbal barbs. He knew the line between annoying her and pissing her off enough for her to do something terrible to him. He thought so, anyway.

James entered the grounds, not too close to Lexi as he didn't intend to provoke her more, but still close enough to show he wasn't scared. He scanned the grounds for his friends from. He hated having his last class without the others in his clique. Fortunately for him, he spotted Josh. Unfortunately for them both, he wasn't the only. It seemed one of the Elites, Charley, had decided to ambush him. James did the only thing the occurred him: he ran over to the scene and mouthed off.

"Nice snake! I hope it compensates for your... unfortunate condition."

He coughed meaningfully. Okay, it wasn't an original insult, but it should be enough to make him lose his concentration.

Amelia tapped her pencil idly on the desk as she stared at the test in front of her. Her eyebrows knitted together in confusion as she pondered a question on the paper. The room was filled with sounds of pencil on paper, and the occasional rustle of a paper being turned over. At last, the final bell rang, and everyone leapt out of their seats, eager to leave.

Amelia stayed behind a few minutes, checking over her answers. The teacher stared at her irritated, but didn't say anything. When she was done, she went over and handed in the test, noticing everyone was already gone. Must have taken longer than just a few minutes. The hallways were emptier than usual, meaning that most people had already left the building. Stopping at her locker, she grabbed her backpack and shoved all her books inside. Zipping it back up, she slung the bag over her shoulder and slammed the locker shut.

Her phone buzzed in her pocket, and she took it out to see an incoming text from Lexi.

From: Lexi

Headin 2 club. Coming?

She typed back a quick reply, her fingers flying over the keys.

To: Lexi

Class ran a little long, be right out.

She left the building through the front entrance, and noticed the small groups gathered outside. They were all from the After school club. She saw Sebastian, Zack, and Blue, among others, and opted to go talk to them rather than the others. She hadn't seen Lexi anywhere as she shot a quick glance around the school front. Approaching the group, she greeted them, quieter than usual. "Hey guys..."

Abby laughed quietly, quite clearly finding the idea of Charley letting Ozzy psychoanalyse particularly amusing. He smiled slightly. He had always liked her laugh. It wasn't often that she did laught, but it wasn't rare either. It fit remarkably well with her personality: neither aloof nor overly sociable.

"Now, why wouldn't he trust you?"

"I really have no idea. I know more about the mind than the so-called psychology teachers at this school. Honestly, it is quite embarassing. The school needs to raise their standards," Ozzy told her with a smirk. Really, he didn't mean that. He understood perfectly well that his abilities already made him smarter than most adults. In fact, had he wanted to, he would have graduated early and gone to college this year. He had, of course, opted to stay in town, mostly to make connections with other people for his plans for the future, but also because there were certain people he didn't want to leave just yet.

Abby shifted her bag on her back and turned to face Ozzy, "So, what are you doing before the Club meeting tonight?" She asked, "It's definitely too hot to stay inside all afternoon."

Ozzy frowned slightly, studying his friend for a moment. Things had become different between them, this much was true. Both of them had modified their interactions with each other, an interaction that had remained unchanged since they were children. She wanted him to hang out with her, but she didn't want to come out and ask and he had conflicted feelings about that. At last, however, he smiled.

"We can warm ourselves up at the tennis court. No powers or over-exertion. We need to be at our best tonight."

James frowned slightly as he saw Josh go with one of the teachers. He caught some things about his father and it being "for his own good". He sighed. He knew that Josh was keeping something from him and the others, but whenever he asked, Josh was able to deflect or move the conversation in the other direction.

"Let's go to the Club first, shall we? We can find two seats for Maggie and Josh, too..."

He paused in his musings to catch Merida's annoyed look and shrugged wordlessly as he followed after his friend. Hopefully, they would be able to get good seats. Some of the kids from the upper cliques had the habit of forcing them out of all the good seats. Truthfully, he was worried about Maggie too. She was much too gentle for these fights. He laughed slightly at Merida's next words.

"We may have to fight today, just so you know. I think I may have accidentally pissed off Labelle... He's a fucking sadomasochist if I have ever seen one and believe me... Pretty sure the bastard, Jason I mean, is one, too... Wanting to be hurt to get high... Why the fuck do I have to have such troublesome twin?"

"No offense, but Jason is a psychopath. Still, he seems to care about you... In a strange, semi-twisted, sort of way," he told her honestly. He didn't bother softening up the truth. He wasn't able to anyway. Still, he steered the conversation away to a topic he knew she and Josh would tease him mercilessly about.

"I think I kind of pissed Lexi off today. Not enough for her to do something drastic. I just can't help but prod her, though. She puts up walls and my instinct is to poke at them until I find a hole through," he told her conversationally.
